In Vrindavan, the sacred land where Krishna played Holi with Radha, hundreds of matajis—widows aged 80 and above—live their final days in devotion. Left by their families, they’ve come here to chant Krishna’s name, seeking moksha. But their reality is heartbreaking. Too old to work, they beg on the streets for a morsel of food. Often, they sleep hungry, their frail bodies trembling from age and want. The occasional bhandara meals are not enough—unfit and irregular. These matajis, who gave up everything for Krishna, now suffer in pain, with no one to care for them.

Homeless Care Foundation has been serving Vrindavan’s needy, and this Holi, we’re bringing sustenance and sweetness to the matajis. Each ration kit provides essentials to ease their hunger, while gujiya packets offer a taste of festivity they’ve long missed. We’ve seen their eyes light up with a rare smile, their hands folding in blessings. But without donors, this seva will fade.
